Backtracking

When we last met, I had told you of my journey to Glasgow. Well, a lot has happened since then. Unfortunately, I have been super busy at work and I haven't been able to transcribe my adventures. Here is a little recap of what has transpired (sorry no recipes or gluten free advice in this post).

After Glasgow I met up with the Kyle Mountain Club one afternoon to go outdoor climbing in Largs (Quadrocks). We stopped at a fantastic chippy before hand and got a fish supper (note: fish and chips are not a great food for hiking and rock climbing). I forgot my change of clothes and had come straight from work and so discovered the delights of formal wear rock climbing. The area was beautiful, we hiked through a field of sheep to the crag and could see out over the bay.

Went to Edinburgh. Edinburgh is sweet but in a completely different way than Glasgow. I wandered all over this town and got lost fairly often. I have no pictures of this day, because being me I forgot my camera. But it was amazing and OLD. I went to see the major tourist attractions: the place where Colin proposed to Ashley and Andrea's favorite pubs from when she went to Edinburgh University (Bar Kohl and The Elephant House). My favorite site though, on the historic royal mile, among the ancient Cathedrals and cobbled streets, there is an amusement ride (think 'Its a small world') about making whiskey.

Finally, on the way home, I had to change trains in Glasgow. I missed my train. So I went to find a pub. I found an awesome pub, with a band playing that sounded like Flogging Molly. The band was The Wakes. Seriously, I recommend. Some of my favorite bars I have found in Scotland, are Irish pubs.... huh.

THE BIG DAY HAD FINALLY ARRIVED. Stephanie got here on Monday safe and sound. It is fantastic having her here. She has updated you on the past week and our trip to Spain so I will not go into detail about it. But as you might have guessed, my diet has significantly improved.

Lesson 5 - Gregg's ham&cheese pasties, chippies, sausage supper, donner kebabs, Scotch pies

Lesson 6 - SCOTTISH MIDGES! They bite. No mosquitoes, but these things come out in swarms when the sun goes down (which is around 11pm).
